Britpop legends Oasis is set to take the world stage once again, more than 15 years after they split in 2009. The Gallagher brothers are ready to take their talents to Toronto’s yet-to-be-built Rogers Stadium next summer, with shows scheduled for August 24th and 25th at the 50,000-seat Live Nation venue.
Oasis tickets prices
Presale tickets were available as of Thursday afternoon with general public seats hitting the market on Friday. Tickets started at ridiculous amounts, as official seller Ticketmaster was listing presale, general admission seats at $300-plus (before taxes and fees).
The band decided not to use Ticketmaster’s “dynamic pricing” rate model, which is known to dramatically inflate costs. However, the pricing is still causing frustration among fans, with many disappointed ticket-seekers expressing their outrage and dismay on social media.
A Reddit user joked: “I don’t want to complain, but I feel like I’m paying alimony to Noel’s ex myself.”
The band did take to X on Thursday morning to caution fans to be careful of purchasing of fake Oasis tickets and reminding fans that Ticketmaster Tickets were the only official reseller.
It seems though third-party resellers, have already gobbled up a vast majority of seats and, as to be expected, the price gouging (and demand for tickets) is outrageous with scalpers, along with third-party websites like VividSeats, StubHub, and GameTime, among others, who had tickets listed from $1,000 all the way up to to a whopping $11,000.
Ticketmaster itself also got blasted, as everything from pricing, to long waits in the queue and extremely high fees on the tickets had fans dragging the online seller through the mud.
“Ticketmaster fees are what’s f’ed up. I’m ok with $250 but $62.50 in fees per ticket is not justified. Ticketmaster is a criminal organization,” one poster on Reddit wrote.
“I had 2 GA tickets for $320 or whatever and went to checkout and then Ticketmaster fucked me and logged me out with an error. Rejoined the queue only for the tickets to be sold out except the $918 ones. F**k that. F**k Ticketmaster,” wrote another Reddit user.
Another Reddit poster commented: “I paid way too much for mine, I’m embarrassed to admit the fees for 3 tickets were $461. I have a year to pay them off and by then they will be like free tickets, right? Right?”
“I can’t believe GA for Toronto was $320 CAD lol.. $63 in fees is absolutely ridiculous,” said another.
