Oasis has warned fans about fake tickets for their North America tour that are being sold before the official sale has even started. The band shared a message on their official X account, saying that many fake tickets have been found on resale sites like StubHub and Vivid Seats and some believe Oasis’ opening band might be ready to fight on tour.
The National Independent Venue Association released a letter revealing that at least 9,000 fake tickets are listed for the upcoming U.S. shows. They pointed out that these counterfeit tickets are not only fake but are also priced much higher than real tickets.
According to NIVA, StubHub has about 2,177 fake listings for three shows, while Vivid Seats has around 3,450 fake tickets. Many of the listings on Vivid Seats didn’t warn buyers that the tickets weren’t in the seller’s possession, including some of the most expensive tickets.
Screenshots from NIVA showed some tickets being sold for over $11,000 (£8,300). Sky News found tickets for a show in Pasadena, California, priced at £8,710 after some real tickets were released during the pre-sale.
General tickets for the tour, which includes stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and Mexico City, will officially go on sale on October 4. This warning comes after the band previously alerted fans in the UK about overpriced resale tickets for their reunion tour.
The NIVA is asking the Senate Commerce Committee to investigate what they call “predatory ticket practices,” including the sale of fake tickets. They want Congress to look into ticket brokers and resale platforms that sell fake tickets and trick fans.
Oasis reminded fans that the only safe places to buy resale tickets are Twickets US and Ticketmaster. Sky News has contacted StubHub and Vivid Seats for their comments on this issue.
