They’ve been putting on monthly Britpop club nights for only a year, but London’s Star Shaped Club have just stepped things up with the announcement of their inaugural Star Shaped Festival. Oh yeah, and the line up? It’s, as Ian Brown might say, glorious.
To headline, Shed Seven’s vocalist Rick Witter and guitarist Paul Banks will put on a rare acoustic set. Two other headline acts are still to be announced, the first having had thirteen Top 40 singles and three Top 10 albums; the second act two platinum albums and seven top 20 singles.
Hurricane #1 and The Real People have also been confirmed, along with Republica’s Saffron who will be accompanied by a full backing band for her solo set.
The Seahorses’ Chris Helme will give his own solo set, and a DJ set from Creation Records legend Alan McGee,with Mansun tribute band Taxloss Lovers and Blur tribute band Popscene rounding off the bill.
Covering three rooms and two floors, Star Shaped Festival will take place on Saturday, September 3rd at The Garage, Highbury Corner, London. Doors will open at 6pm and close at 4am – that’s TEN hours of incredible music.
Pre-sale tickets have already sold out, so while general sale tickets went on sale at 9am this morning (Friday march 25th).
Since their launch in February 2015, Star Shaped have made a name for themselves, attracting the likes of Shed Seven’s Rick Witter, Menswe@r’s Johnny Dean, Dubstar’s Sarah Blackwood, Republica’s Saffron and My Life Story’s Jake Shillingford for a mix of DJ sets and live performances.
