Report: Meghan Markle Leads Sussex Income
Meghan Markle is being described as the “breadwinner” in the Sussex household as she expands business ventures while Prince Harry focuses on philanthropy, according to a new report relayed by India Today. The claims have revived attention on the costs of the couple’s Montecito lifestyle and their efforts to balance commercial work with charitable projects.
India Today said the report, citing Page Six, put the Sussexes’ annual costs in Montecito at nearly $6 million, including private security, staff, property taxes and mortgage payments, with Meghan increasingly taking charge of commercial projects and income streams while Harry remains centred on philanthropic work and his BetterUp role.
The report said Meghan has been concentrating on scaling lifestyle and commerce-focused ventures and highlighted her involvement with an AI-powered shopping platform called OneOff, which allows celebrities to curate fashion and lifestyle recommendations. It also claimed there has been discussion about whether she could return to acting or take on larger entertainment projects, while noting sources close to the couple said she is not actively pursuing a full-time television comeback.
Financial pressures have featured in other recent coverage of the couple, including claims that their celebrity friendships have reportedly cooled amid cost concerns as they manage expenses in California.
India Today added that Prince Harry has remained associated with BetterUp, serving as Chief Impact Officer since 2021, and continues to work on the organisation’s mental health initiatives. Neither Meghan nor Harry directly addressed the claims in the report.
