Insider: Royals Stayed Silent On Sussex Anniversary
An insider has claimed no member of the Royal Family contacted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to mark their eighth wedding anniversary, despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sharing a personal celebration online. The report adds to continuing focus on the strained relationship between the Sussexes and the House of Windsor.
An unnamed source alleged there was “no phone call, no private message, no peace offering” from relatives, saying “the silence was very intentional”, Mandatory reported, citing Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice.
The same report said Meghan marked the anniversary by posting intimate family moments, including a video showing Prince Harry presenting her with a lemon elderflower cake and a penguin statue, described as a nod to penguin-themed onesies worn around the time of their engagement.
It also claimed the images did not feature other members of the Royal Family, with a source saying the omission “did not go unnoticed” and that the focus on the couple was presented as if the royals had been “erased from the story”. The anniversary posts have prompted commentary elsewhere, including coverage in which Meghan marked eight years with unseen wedding photos.
The piece added that reconciliation rumours continue to swirl, referencing reported efforts to ease tensions with King Charles and Prince William, while another insider questioned whether public signals of peace were aimed at improving the Sussexes’ public image rather than rebuilding trust. No Buckingham Palace spokesperson comment was included in the report.
