Robert Hardman says Prince William won’t ‘put up with’ attacks from Prince Harry
Prince Harry has been warned that Prince William is unlikely to tolerate any future remarks that could harm the Royal Family’s reputation, as renewed attention focuses on the ongoing rift between the brothers.
Royal author Mr Robert Hardman said the Prince of Wales is “not going to put up with” anything that “jeopardises the reputation of the brand”, Express reported, adding that William views criticism from his brother as an attack on the monarchy itself.
The comments were made amid discussion of Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step back from royal duties in 2020 and the Duke of Sussex’s subsequent public claims about his relationship with William, including those in his 2023 memoir Spare. Mr Hardman also referenced the late Queen’s view that Harry could not remain half-in and half-out of royal life, arguing that William prioritises the institution over personal relationships.
Recent reports have also suggested the Princess of Wales has reassessed her role in trying to reconcile the brothers, with Princess Catherine reportedly stopping attempts to mend the William and Harry rift as tensions have continued.
It remains unclear when Prince Harry and Prince William last spoke. Neither palace aides nor representatives for the Duke have publicly responded to the latest claims, but the remarks underline how firmly William is said to be drawing the line as he prepares for his future role as King.
