Prince Harry is travelling to London next week to testify in his case against the Daily Mail under a thunderous cloud via News Nation Now.
Harry, along with Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley and Sadie Frost (amongst others), is part of a group privacy lawsuit in London’s High Court alleging the company used unlawful methods over decades to gather private information.
The seven claimants have been seeking damages over allegations that journalists hired private investigators to place listening devices inside cars, “blag” private records and access private phone conversations.
The Daily Mail and its owner, Associated Newspapers, deny all allegations.
However, days prior the case was set to commence, massive charges were made against Harry’s lawyer, David Sherborne, including allegations of making payments for sworn evidence and the deliberate creation of a misleading email chain.
Gavin Burrows, a private investigator who was on Harry’s side, has since rejected evidence and alleged that his signature on a key witness statement saying he bugged cars is forged. He believes there has been a blatant attempt to intimidate him on the eve of the trial.
According to the Telegraph, Mr. Burrows has told the court that a witness statement dated August 2021, in which he appeared to admit targeting “a large number of private individuals” over a number of years, including Prince Harry and Sir Elton, by hacking phones and bugging cars, was “prepared by others without my knowledge.”
