Prince Harry is being advised by royal experts to stay out of controversy and focus on his charity work following recent comments from Donald Trump. Prince Harry is said to feel lonely five years after moving to California as well.
Trump stated that he has no plans to deport Harry, who moved to California with Meghan Markle in 2020. His remarks came as the couple arrived in Vancouver for the Invictus Games.
Harry is facing scrutiny after a conservative think tank sued the Department of Homeland Security to release his immigration records. The lawsuit stems from his admission of past drug use in his 2023 memoir Spare.
Trump, when asked if he would deport Harry, said, “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich believes now is the time for Harry to focus on meaningful and consistent work to improve his image in the U.S. She suggested that shifting attention away from personal grievances and letting his charitable efforts speak for themselves could help rebuild public trust.
British broadcaster Helena Chard pointed out that Trump respects the royal family and is unlikely to damage his relationship with King Charles III and Prince William. However, if Harry is found to have lied on his visa application, things could change. She also noted that Trump has been critical of Meghan Markle in the past and does not plan to deport her.
Meghan previously called Trump “misogynistic” and “divisive” before the 2016 election. In response, Trump referred to her as “nasty” before his 2019 state visit to the U.K.
Trump has recently praised Prince William, whom he met privately in Paris last year, calling him a “great young man.” Experts believe Harry and Meghan continue to face criticism due to their public attacks on the royal family, which upset Queen Elizabeth II before her passing.
Chard stated that Trump values the monarchy and sees Harry as a minor issue compared to other matters he is dealing with. She also emphasized that Harry’s most respected work is the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014 to support wounded service members and veterans.
Experts recommend that Harry and Meghan appear more united in public, but also suggest that Harry should occasionally step out on his own to maintain his positive image.
