GB News Panel Calls Prince Harry A Fool
Prince Harry was criticised on GB News after making an unannounced visit to Kyiv, with a panel discussion describing the trip as badly timed ahead of King Charles’s planned visit to Washington. The Duke of Sussex appeared at the Kyiv Security Forum on Thursday, April 23, where he addressed the war in Ukraine and urged American leaders to uphold treaty commitments.
During a Saturday Five Extra segment, royal biographer Mr Tom Bower said the duke had made a “terrible mistake” travelling to Ukraine just before what he described as a delicate diplomatic moment for the King. Mr Bower added that “to somehow criticise Donald Trump” Prince Harry “really is a fool”, Express reported, as he argued the remarks risked embarrassing the monarch ahead of the state visit.
Mr Bower also claimed the duke was “desperate” to regain a public role, telling the programme that Prince Harry had “no role” and was “keen to join the band again”. The segment featured presenter Mr Cai Wilshaw alongside panellists including Ms Lizzie Cundy, who reacted on air as the comments escalated.
The criticism followed a wider discussion about the political optics of the trip, with debate over the timing of Prince Harry’s Ukraine visit continuing across the UK media in recent days.
In his Kyiv remarks, the duke said he was not speaking as a politician but as a humanitarian and a soldier, calling for American leadership to honour “international treaty obligations”. The exchange is expected to keep attention on how Prince Harry’s overseas engagements intersect with the Royal Family’s official diplomatic calendar.
