Prince Harry Says He Will Always Be Royal
Prince Harry has pushed back at suggestions he is “not a working royal,” telling broadcasters during a visit to Ukraine that he will “always be part of the royal family.” The Duke of Sussex spoke while touring with the humanitarian organisation The HALO Trust, highlighting landmine clearance work near Bucha as he continued public-facing engagements six years after stepping back from official duties.
During an interview in Ukraine, People reported that Prince Harry responded “No. I will always be part of the royal family,” before adding that he is “here working doing the things that I was born to do.”
In the same exchange, he said he enjoys making trips that support people he has met through his work and hopes to draw attention to issues that can fall out of the headlines. The report said the Duke joined HALO to look at digital de-mining technology, an area long associated with his mother Princess Diana, who drew international attention to the campaign against landmines during a 1997 visit to Angola.
The Ukraine visit follows previous Britpop News coverage in which he referenced Princess Diana while speaking in Kyiv, as the Duke continues to link his humanitarian work to causes that shaped his late mother’s public legacy.
The comments underscore Prince Harry’s continued insistence that service can continue outside the institution, even as relations with the Royal Family remain strained since he and Meghan Markle left their roles in 2020 and later detailed grievances in interviews and projects.
