Prince Harry Discusses Therapy as Unhappiness Claim Emerges
Prince Harry has spoken publicly about therapy and the pressures he felt when becoming a father, as a former royal editor claimed the Duke of Sussex appears “more unhappy than he’s ever been”. The comments were linked to an appearance at a Movember event in Melbourne during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent Australia trip.
At the Whitten Oval in Melbourne, Express.co.uk reported that Prince Harry told the audience he sought help to deal with issues from his past ahead of fatherhood, saying: “I knew that I had stuff from the past that I needed to deal with (before becoming a dad).”
In the same remarks, Prince Harry described therapy as both “preventative” and a way to “get ahead of it”, adding: “You don’t have to wait until you’re lying on the kitchen floor in the foetal position.” The report said he also referenced struggling emotionally when he became a father for the first time in 2019.
Former royal editor Mr Duncan Larcombe, speaking to New magazine, claimed the Duke “seems more unhappy now than he’s ever been”, while also pointing to Prince Harry’s willingness to discuss his childhood and emotions publicly; Britpop News has previously covered how Prince Harry’s ‘emotional outbursts’ have been linked to trauma in related reporting.
According to the report, the Duke and Duchess returned to California after their Australia visit, and Prince Harry then travelled to Ukraine alone for non-royal engagements. The latest comments add to continued public scrutiny of the couple’s post-royal life, as Prince Harry frames therapy and support as a key part of managing his mental health.
