Prince Harry and Meghan ‘No Quick Fix’ Rift
Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, are not expecting an imminent breakthrough in their strained relationship with the Royal Family, according to a new report that says the couple are taking “small, manageable steps” while accepting there may be no swift resolution. The update comes as King Charles continues public duties abroad and questions persist about when — or whether — there could be a meaningful family reconciliation.
People reported that, while there has been renewed contact between the Duke of Sussex and King Charles in recent months, they have not seen each other since last September and there were said to be no plans for a reunion during the King’s current US state visit, with sources citing protocol and scheduling.
The report also suggested the divide is most entrenched between Prince Harry and Prince William, with royal author Mr Robert Jobson quoted as saying the Prince of Wales is “over all the drama” and focused on his family. Royal biographer Ms Sally Bedell Smith was also quoted describing the brothers as being “at a standoff”.
Behind the scenes, the article said Meghan supports her husband while he leads on royal family matters, adding that the couple remain aligned on how they handle the situation. The wider backdrop includes continuing scrutiny of the Sussexes’ post-royal work and travel, with attention recently renewed after Prince Harry’s Ukraine trip sparked debate over timing in separate coverage.
For now, the report indicated the Sussexes’ priority remains their family life in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as the long-running tensions within the House of Windsor show few signs of easing quickly.
