The Sunday Times newspaper recently released its annual Rich List of the wealthiest individuals in Britain, and among the rock stars who made the cut, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John stood out. They are the only musicians in the list of 350 individuals. To qualify for the list this year, a minimum wealth of £350 million was required.
Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell secured the 175th position on the list with a net worth of £950 million. This is a positive development for the couple as they climbed up from their previous ranking of 198 in 2022 when their net worth was £865 million. The Sunday Times highlights that McCartney’s recent Got Back tour was a massive success, grossing $105 million from only 16 shows, which added an estimated £25 million to his overall income.
On the other hand, Sir Elton John is a new entry on the list, sharing the 309th position with a net worth of £450 million. The Sunday Times, in an attempt at humor, quips that the ‘Rocket Man’ has become the “Shop-it Man” due to his recent ventures in the retail sector. Elton John opened his first branded stores in Bicester Village in Oxfordshire and a store-in-store in Selfridges, offering limited edition eyewear, clothing, memorabilia, signed merchandise, artworks, and photographs.
The Rich List also includes notable figures such as King Charles III, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Lord Sugar, Sir Richard Branson, JK Rowling, owners of several British newspapers, numerous Tory Party donors, and individuals who profit from the misfortunes of others. Additionally, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy also made the list, leaving room for comedic interpretation.
The Sunday Times’ Rich List provides a glimpse into the wealth and success of various individuals across different industries, shedding light on the financial accomplishments of renowned figures and capturing public attention. That said, Ringo Starr also broke down crying with Paul McCartney.
