Cris Carter Warns Kelce About Swift Pace
Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter has suggested Travis Kelce faces a different kind of challenge as he prepares for another season with the Kansas City Chiefs, arguing the tight end is “trying to keep up” with Taylor Swift’s fast-moving schedule. The comments, made on a podcast, add to ongoing discussion around Kelce’s workload, public profile and future in the NFL.
Discussing Kelce’s relationship with Swift, Carter said the Chiefs star is “trying to keep up” with a partner who “hasn’t retired” and is still constantly on the move, Marca reported.
In the same appearance, Carter also joked that continuing to earn an NFL salary could be a safeguard, referencing figures of $12 million to $15 million and adding: “just in case it doesn’t work out with her. You might need that.” The article noted Carter projected Kelce could still post between 70 and 85 catches and approach 1,000 receiving yards.
Marca also cited earlier scrutiny from analyst Todd McShay, who questioned whether Kelce’s high-profile offseason had affected his conditioning, while Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, told People his private training routine remains “brutal”. Kelce has previously discussed the ways his relationship intersects with his lifestyle, including saying Taylor Swift made him more adventurous in his off-field activities.
The report added that Carter expects Kansas City’s offence could evolve after the team added running back Kenneth Walker III, which he suggested may change Kelce’s role as the Chiefs potentially lean more on the run. Kelce is expected to continue preparations through organised team activities before pre-season fixtures later this year.
