In his seventies, Donny Osmond has a show on the Las Vegas Strip and is set to return to the UK stage in Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Bible-inspired musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” This would likely surprise his childhood friend and fellow superstar, Michael Jackson. Osmond recalls receiving some candid advice from Jackson during the difficult times in his career in the 1980s.
Osmond came to fame in the 1960s and early 1970s with his singing family of six brothers, one sister, while at the same time Jackson was the breakout star of his own family group, The Jackson Five. Both groups sold millions around the world, and Donny became a solo superstar.
However, after a couple of decades of success, Donny Osmond could suddenly no longer get arrested. In an interview with The Times of London via Deadline, he remembers asking Michael Jackson for advice. Jackson’s answer, according to Osmond was, “‘Change your name. It’s poison.’ He was right, but I never did.”
Osmond is now 66 and performs a show in Las Vegas during the week. Still going strong, he reflected his advice to any wannabe young star would be: “Don’t believe your own hype; take the trash out; do your own laundry. I did mine last night.”
Donny Osmond also recently shared a video of himself performing the hit song I’ll Make A Man Out Of You from the Mulan soundtrack at the Disney Expo, leaving fans in awe as they realized he was the original singer. In his post, Donny wrote: “I can’t believe my 2024 shows have wrapped! It’s such a joy to be on stage with my amazing crew here at @Harrah’s Vegas.”
He continued, “Performing for you and hearing your incredible stories brings me so much happiness. I’m so excited to return in February 2025. Be sure to grab your tickets-we have some special surprises in store!”
