Meghan Markle Reportedly Separating Work From Prince Harry
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is being portrayed as increasingly keen to keep her public work distinct from Prince Harry’s royal-related controversies, according to new claims from a royal commentator. The report suggests the couple are pursuing more separate work commitments as they continue to attract attention over their relationship with the Royal Family.
Express reported that royal expert Mr Rob Shuter said on Maureen Callahan’s The Nerve podcast that Meghan believes her husband’s presence can shift the focus back to “royal drama” and family feuds, and that she sees herself as “more powerful” and able to make more money by stepping forward independently.
Mr Shuter also claimed Meghan is increasingly conscious that headlines can centre on Prince Harry’s disputes with senior royals, rather than her own projects, and suggested she wants the spotlight on her work. The report notes that Meghan recently appeared in Switzerland without the Duke to deliver a speech about the effects of social media on children.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously mixed joint and individual engagements, and recent Britpop News reporting has examined claims that Meghan carries a bigger role in the Sussexes’ money plans as their professional focus evolves.
Express also referenced the couple’s travel to Australia last month for a series of engagements, including Meghan’s appearance at an event at the InterContinental in Coogee. The latest commentary is likely to fuel further debate over how the Sussexes divide their roles as they pursue projects outside the UK.
