In a recent video which has surfaced on social media, Harry Styles is seen playing in Austin, Texas. During his show, he took some time to talk about political affiliations, which can always be controversial.
Harry Styles briefed everyone in the crowd in Austin, Texas with his choice for who he would vote for if he were a Texas resident. Styles took to the mic, but did not say a word. In fact, Styles just pointed to a sticker that lay on his guitar which stated “Beto For Texas.”
Beto O’Rourke, who was in attendance on this night, waved to Styles as he was shown on the camera doing so. Styles looked at Beto and smiled, but still said nothing.
The crowd in attendance cheered extremely loud as nothing else could be heard.
A recent Hispanic Policy Foundation poll found Republican incumbent Greg Abbott leads O’Rourke by seven points (51 % to 44%) among likely voters in Texas. Among most likely (almost certain) voters, the lead grows to 10 points (53% to 43%).
Just 1% of voters in both categories (likely/most likely) says they’ll vote for Libertarian Mark Tippetts and Green Party candidate Delilah Barrios.
Abbott and O’Rourke faced off in the first and likely only gubernatorial debate on Friday in the Rio Grande Valley. The two candidates clashed over immigration, abortion and gun control ahead of the Nov. 8th elections.
The deadline to register to vote in Texas for the November election is on Oct. 11.
We will have to see if this silent statement by Harry Styles helps to swing things in the direction of Beto as a seven point lead isn’t something easy to overcome. Surely, Harry made the statement silently for legal reasons as there could have been some repercussions if he came out and said he was supporting the candidate.
Elections are coming up fast and we will see how much weight Harry had.
Right behind you, @harry_styles. Take a friend to the polls, you all! https://t.co/bxmGAr6dde
