Jimmy Page recently sparked another feud with Robbie Williams regarding the plans to cut down a ‘fungus-infested’ tree.
Jimmy Page starts a feud with Robbie Williams
The feud has resurfaced after Williams requested the council to remove a tree in his garden. According to his tree expert, the tree is infested with honey fungus. However, the neighbors have voiced their objections to the removal. Although Page is not mentioned in the objection, he opposed Williams’ proposal to cut down the tree last year.
“There is no explanation as to why this tree need be felled, only a series of photos showing parts of it are damaged,” the objection said.
It added, “Should there not be a written report that accompanies each proposed felling and what courses of action could be done before the final resort of felling this tree?”
The pair, who live in West London, have been in a feud since 2014. Page first opposed Williams’ home renovations, worried the vibrations would cause ‘catastrophic damage.’
Despite obtaining permission to renovate his £17.5 million home, Williams expressed frustration about being unable to move in and referred to Page as “mentally ill,” although he later apologized for this remark. The dispute flared up again in 2018 when Williams proposed building an underground gym and pool. Page raised concerns that the vibrations from the construction could cause “irreversible damage.”
Nevertheless, that year, the council permitted Williams to proceed with the renovations. As a result, Williams successfully began work on what he referred to as a “super basement,” which included a pool, gym, and shower.
A couple of years back, Page lost a legal battle against Williams. Several months after the guitarist lost a legal case, Williams decided to build a 20-foot fence this time. A statement about the application said, “It has been noted that due to the use of existing wall elements and the significant retention of soil within the plot, wall elevations are low and allow passers-by a view of the garden.”
It continued, “As part of a proposed landscaping scheme, the designer has proposed the use of trellis panels as a low-impact way of increasing the privacy within the garden. These will be fixed to the inside of the garden wall using reversible fixings or to posts cast into the soil in certain where there are no tree root protection zones.”
“These will be installed whilst preserving existing planting and are to be painted in dark grey. It is our view that said intervention will have negligible impact on the heritage value of the property while adding a level of privacy to inhabitants whilst using the garden,” it lastly said.
Williams will play himself in the biopic ‘Better Man,’ releasing on Christmas Day in the US. The film covers his life from childhood to his time in Take That and his solo career.
