Harry Styles Discusses Grief During Amsterdam Show
Harry Styles addressed the pain of bereavement during his Amsterdam residency, telling fans he has lost “a couple of friends” in recent years, in comments that prompted fresh attention because of the death of his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne.
During night four of his Together, Together residency, The Mirror reported that Styles paused the gig to reflect on “big moments of life” and said: “There were wonderful things that happened to me and there were some difficult things that happened to me as well, I lost a couple of friends over the last couple of years.”
The report said fans immediately linked the remarks to Payne, who died in 2024 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. Styles also discussed how such experiences have shaped his outlook, describing life as both “hard” and “inspiring” and saying the moments made him consider “all of the things that life could be”.
Styles’ Amsterdam dates form part of his current live run, which Britpop News has been following since he launched his Together, Together tour in the city.
Styles has previously spoken about grief in interviews and, in Amsterdam, framed the subject as a reminder to live fully and to honour friends who have died by making the most of life.
