Man Denies Threatening Behaviour Toward Prince Andrew
A man has pleaded not guilty in London to allegations of threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour toward Prince Andrew near the King’s Sandringham Estate, as the former royal remains under intense public scrutiny. The court appearance comes after reports of a confrontation earlier this week while Prince Andrew was near his home in Norfolk.
Alex Jenkinson, 39, denied the charge at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after being accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour toward Prince Andrew, Associated Press reported.
The report said the case followed claims that Prince Andrew, also known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was threatened by a masked man while walking dogs near his home. The Daily Telegraph reported that a man wearing a ski mask ran toward him while shouting abuse on Wednesday, according to the AP account.
The court development follows earlier reporting that a man was reportedly arrested near Prince Andrew’s Sandringham home as police assessed the circumstances around the alleged incident in the area.
Prince Andrew, 66, moved to the King’s private Sandringham Estate after being forced to leave his long-time home near Windsor Castle amid fallout from his links to Jeffrey Epstein, which he has denied were improper. Further proceedings are expected as the case continues through the courts.
