Man arrested near Prince Andrew’s Sandringham home
UK police have arrested a man suspected of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon after an incident close to the Sandringham Estate, where Prince Andrew is reported to be living. The arrest followed a call to officers on Wednesday evening in the Wolferton area of Norfolk, raising fresh security concerns around the Duke of York.
Norfolk Constabulary said officers were called shortly after 7.30pm and arrested a man “behaving in an intimidating manner” near the estate, with South China Morning Post reporting he was detained on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon.
The report said the man was taken to King’s Lynn police investigation centre for questioning and remained in custody. UK media coverage cited by SCMP said the suspect was alleged to have threatened Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor while he was walking his dogs, prompting him to leave the area with a member of private security.
The incident comes as Andrew’s living arrangements have continued to draw attention since he reportedly relocated to the King’s Sandringham estate after leaving Royal Lodge, placing him in a high-profile and closely watched setting.
Norfolk police have not identified the man or said whether anyone was injured, and the investigation is continuing. Any further charging decision will be a matter for prosecutors as officers assess evidence gathered following the arrest.
