Prince Harry Remark Said to End Bond With Princess Kate

Prince Harry’s relationship with Princess Catherine is said to have deteriorated sharply after a brief comment about King Charles’s health, according to a new account revisiting tensions between the Duke of Sussex and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The Express quoted author Mr Christopher Andersen as saying Princess Catherine saw Prince Harry’s remark, “I don’t know how much longer my father has,” as particularly damaging given the public speculation it could trigger while the King is receiving cancer treatment.

Mr Andersen, discussing his book Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen, said Princess Catherine and Prince Harry had once been close, with Harry previously describing her as “the sister he never had.” He added that she had continued to hope for a reconciliation between Prince Harry and Prince William even after the Duke’s memoir Spare, but concluded that the BBC interview comment was “simply too much.”

The claim follows previous reporting about Princess Catherine’s behind-the-scenes role in family dynamics, including coverage in which Prince Harry was accused of trying to steal the spotlight from Princess Kate’s Italy trip amid wider scrutiny of the couple’s public interventions.

Neither Kensington Palace nor representatives for the Duke of Sussex have publicly responded to the specific characterisation of Princess Catherine’s reaction, but the comments underline how sensitive remarks about the King’s health remain as the wider rift continues.
