Prince Harry says he won’t ‘point the finger’ at King Charles in Melbourne remarks
Prince Harry has made rare comments about King Charles while appearing at a men’s mental health event in Melbourne during the Duke of Sussex’s Australia visit, telling a stage discussion there was “no judgment” and “no pointing the finger” when it comes to parenting.
Speaking at Whitten Oval during a conversation with Movember’s global director of men’s health research, Dr Zac Seidler, Prince Harry said: “There’s no judgment, there’s no blame, there’s no pointing the finger,” as he reflected on improving as a parent, Hello Magazine reported.
The Duke, 41, made the remarks while discussing how children can be “upgrades” of their parents and referencing his own experiences growing up with King Charles and the late Diana, Princess of Wales. He also spoke about how some conversations now happening between parents and children, including around social media, did not exist when he was young.
The Melbourne appearance formed part of the Sussexes’ four-day itinerary in Australia, with Prince Harry attending engagements without Meghan Markle on the second day after the couple’s initial public appearances in the city, as outlined in their planned four-day Australia trip.
Movember, founded in Melbourne in 2003, focuses on men’s health initiatives including mental health and suicide prevention, as well as prostate and testicular cancer. The charity’s annual moustache-growing campaign has raised hundreds of millions of pounds across more than 20 countries.
Prince Harry’s comments added a personal dimension to his Australia programme while keeping the focus on mental health and family life, topics he has frequently highlighted through his public work in recent years.
