Prince Harry continues to have a strained relationship with King Charles and Prince William but has maintained close ties with other family members in the UK, according to a royal expert. Harry and Markle also alleged a police cover-up recently as well.
The rift with his father and brother deepened after Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California. Tensions escalated further in 2023 when Harry released his memoir Spare, which made allegations against senior royals and detailed his personal experiences.
The brothers were last seen together at their uncle’s funeral in August, but eyewitnesses reported they did not speak. Harry has met with King Charles only once since moving abroad, during a brief visit to London after Charles revealed a cancer diagnosis. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said their 30-minute meeting highlighted the ongoing rift, as Charles seems to prioritize other engagements over reconnecting with Harry.
Despite these challenges, Harry has remained close to his late mother’s side of the family, including his uncle Earl Spencer. The Spencers attended a 10-year Invictus Games event, demonstrating their support for Harry’s initiatives. He also shares a strong bond with Princess Eugenie, who lives near Harry and Meghan’s holiday home in Portugal.
Harry is set to return to the UK in January for a trial against The Sun’s publisher, accusing them of unlawful information gathering.
