Prince Harry is honoring his late mother, Princess Diana, by remembering her dedication to helping young people. He shared a video message during a special ceremony on December 5, where 200 young people from 45 countries were recognized for making a positive impact. This year, 34 of the award winners are from the U.S.
The Diana Award is a charity created in memory of Princess Diana. It helps young people who are making a difference in the world. In his message, Harry talked about how his mom believed in the power of young people to change the world and how that still inspires him today. He mentioned that even though young people face many challenges like climate change and mental health issues, their efforts bring hope.
Harry also said that working together is important and that even small efforts can make a big difference in creating a fairer world. He praised the winners for their positive impact and reminded everyone that change doesn’t happen alone.
Prince William also praised the young winners, saying they showed kindness and made a difference in their communities. Even though the brothers have some distance between them, they both support the Diana Award and its mission.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Diana Award. The charity is the only one that carries Princess Diana’s name. One of the American winners, Lila Rousso, started a non-profit called “Dress UP,” which gives formal dresses to young people in need. She even helped teens who were affected by Hurricane Ian get dresses for prom.
The ceremony celebrated young people working on projects to improve health, provide better education, reduce inequality, and fight climate change.
