There was a lot of tension at King Charles III’s coronation in May 2023, according to a lip reader named Jeremy Freeman.
Prince Harry was seen sitting next to his cousin’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, and reportedly shared some harsh words about his family. Freeman claims Harry said, “I’m fed up with the way they treat me” and called the situation “not ideal.”
Brooksbank replied, “It’s not the quiet life, is it?” Harry then allegedly shook his head and said, “They don’t care.” Brooksbank answered, “Not if it’s over…” but Harry cut him off and said, “It’s an eventuality.”
It’s not clear exactly who Harry was talking about, but many believe he was referring to the ongoing issues with his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William.
The feud between the brothers reportedly began in 2016, when Harry started dating Meghan Markle. Things got worse after Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California.
Harry has spoken about these issues before, including in his 2023 book Spare and in his and Meghan’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. In 2023, reports said Harry and Meghan tried to fix things with Charles, but no agreement was reached.
The coronation was the first time Harry was seen with the royal family since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. He did not wear his military uniform at the event, as that honor is only for royals still working for the family.
Harry sat in the third row with his cousins. Meghan stayed home in California to take care of their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
