Prince Harry ‘blames William’ for wedding snub
Prince Harry has reportedly been left off the guest list for his cousin Peter Phillips’ wedding this weekend, with a royal commentator claiming the Duke of Sussex believes Prince William is to blame. The wedding of Princess Anne’s son and NHS nurse Harriet Sperling is due to take place on Saturday, June 6, at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire.
Express.co.uk reported that royal commentator Ms Emily Nash told Page Six that Phillips is “very close” and “very loyal” to Prince William, and that excluding Harry was intended to prevent the day being overshadowed by tensions between the brothers.
According to the report, Ms Nash said Phillips and Prince Harry have not spoken in recent years, adding: “I think it comes down to interpersonal relationships, doesn’t it? He wasn’t invited as a result.” She also suggested having both brothers attend “would have put a completely different slant on the whole event” and “that’s not what you want on what should be the happiest day of your life.”
The claim is the latest flashpoint in the wider rift between the brothers, which has been revisited in recent coverage including Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud revisited in a Royal Family roundup.
Express.co.uk’s live blog also suggested Prince William is expected to attend the wedding, with Princess Catherine and King Charles also likely to appear. The report said the family tensions have been linked to public fallout following Prince Harry’s memoir Spare and the couple’s Netflix series, with the wedding expected to proceed without the Duke of Sussex in attendance.
