Prince Andrew’s ‘Skeleton Staff’ Detailed at Sandringham Home
Prince Andrew is reportedly living with a minimal household team at his new residence on the Sandringham Estate, as fresh detail emerges about his day-to-day set-up following his move from Royal Lodge. The claim is included in reporting about an updated paperback biography focused on the King’s brother.
Hello Magazine reported that royal writer Mr Andrew Lownie writes in his book Entitled that the Duke of York “now had to rely on just a housekeeper, a cook and general aide,” alongside police protection officers, adding that his only other company included two corgis that once belonged to the late Queen and several Norfolk terriers.
The article said Prince Andrew relocated to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk after pressure to leave the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor, where he had lived on a long-term lease paying a “peppercorn” rent. It also stated that he initially stayed at Wood Farm before moving into his permanent home, described as Marsh Farm, where upgrades included new carpets, fencing and CCTV, as well as stables converted for his horses.
In the same report, HELLO! detailed a recent incident involving an intruder on the estate, with Norfolk Police saying officers were called to Wolferton on 6 May and arrested a man on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon, an episode previously covered in our report that a man denied threatening behaviour toward Prince Andrew.
The biography’s updated claims and the renewed focus on security underscore the scrutiny surrounding the Duke’s life since stepping back from royal duties. Further developments are expected as legal proceedings relating to the alleged incident progress toward a July court date.
