Prince Andrew Harassment Suspect Banned From Royal Properties
A man accused of harassing Prince Andrew near the Sandringham Estate has been barred from approaching multiple royal residences, as a court case progresses following an incident earlier this week in Norfolk.
The suspect, Alex Jenkinson, 39, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 8 May and was released on conditional bail requiring him to stay 500 metres away from a list of royal properties, including Sandringham, Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, People reported via Yahoo Entertainment.
Jenkinson was charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to harass, cause alarm or distress, alongside an allegation of failing to provide a blood specimen while in custody, according to the report. He pleaded not guilty to the harassment-related charges and pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen, with the court also imposing an interim driving disqualification.
The BBC has reported that Prince Andrew, 66, is expected to give evidence in the case, with prosecutors seeking for him to do so remotely; the case is due to return to court on 29 July. The restrictions also prevent Jenkinson from entering Norfolk and from contacting the alleged victim.
The latest court development follows an earlier incident in Wolferton that Britpop News covered when a man was reportedly arrested near Prince Andrew’s Sandringham home, as police investigated reports of intimidating behaviour.
The conditions imposed by the court underline the seriousness with which authorities are treating alleged threats involving senior royals, with further proceedings now expected later this summer.
