Book Claims Prince Andrew Kicked Dog at Sandringham
A newly updated royal biography has made fresh claims about Prince Andrew’s behaviour during a pheasant shoot at Sandringham, alleging he lashed out at one of his dogs in front of guests. The allegation is contained in a new edition of a book about the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson, due to be published later this month.
People reported that the updated edition of Andrew Lownie’s book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York alleges Prince Andrew kicked his Labrador in the head after the dog snatched a guest’s sausage roll during a mid-morning break at a Sandringham shoot.
According to the report, the author writes that the guest described the conduct as “disgusting”, and alleges Prince Andrew responded with an expletive and said he would do what he wanted with “MY dogs”. The book also claims Prince Philip later approached the guest and said both he and Queen Elizabeth agreed that the guest had been right to challenge his son.
The account comes amid continued public scrutiny of the Duke of York, including recent reporting on a court case involving an alleged confrontation near the Sandringham estate. People said Prince Andrew did not respond to a request for comment, and Buckingham Palace no longer comments on matters involving him.
The updated book is scheduled for release on 21 May, and its latest claims are likely to add to wider debate around Prince Andrew’s public standing and the Royal Family’s efforts to distance official duties from his private life.
