Oasis have finally announced their U.S. dates on their reunion tour and the brother duo also revealed that Cage the Elephant will be opening the shows. Fans will be thrilled to see the Gallagher brothers live together again as and the “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” rockers will share the stage with them.
Cage the Elephant honored to open for Oasis
In a statement, Cage frontman Matt Shultz shares, “It’s an absolute honor being asked to support such a legendary group as Oasis, as well as being one of my all-time personal favorites.”
“I’ll definitely be catching their set every single night on tour,” Matt says. “A true blessing, couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Matt and his brother and bandmate, Brad Shultz are set to speak more about the Oasis tour on an upcoming CBS Mornings special, airing October 10th. In a preview, Brad jokes that he’s had “visions” of him and Matt running arm and arm on the beach alongside Noel and Liam.
“Or maybe they’ll be in an argument and we’ll be in an argument and we’ll, like, be friends with different brothers,” Matt says.
Oasis’ U.S. tour will stop at Chicago’s Soldier Field on August 28, MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 31 and Los Angeles’ Rose Bowl on September 6th. It’ll be bookended by shows in Toronto on August 24 and Mexico City on September 12th.
Both Oasis and Cage The Elephant are two sets of brothers whose relationships have shaped their bands’ identities. Oasis was famously driven by the often tumultuous dynamic between Liam and Noel Gallagher. Their intense sibling rivalry, both on and off stage, was notorious throughout the 1990s and contributed to the eventual breakup of the band in 2009.
Similarly, Cage The Elephant features two brothers, Matt and Brad Shultz, who have been the creative force behind the band since its inception. While their sibling relationship doesn’t seem as publicly volatile as the Gallaghers’, it’s clear that the bond between Matt (the lead singer) and Brad (guitarist) has been integral to the band’s success.
