Nicki Minaj urges Prince Harry to ‘go home’
US rapper Ms Nicki Minaj has weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s ongoing rift with the Royal Family, telling listeners she believes Prince Harry should return to the UK after stepping back from royal duties.
During an appearance on a podcast hosted by Ms Katie Miller, Daily Mail reported that Ms Minaj compared the Duke to “ET” as she said he should “phone home and then go home”, adding that she did not think he should have “aired the family’s dirty laundry”.
The comments were made as Ms Minaj discussed her interest in Netflix drama The Crown and was asked for her view on the Sussexes’ split from the rest of the family. In the exchange, the rapper also adopted an English accent while saying: “But that’s just me, darling,” and later added: “Harry, no don’t do that, you should know better.”
In the same conversation, Ms Minaj said she had “nothing but love” for the couple and suggested that outsiders cannot always know what is happening in someone’s personal life, stressing she did not judge them despite her reaction to their public disclosures.
Prince Harry has previously said he is happy living in California, while also indicating he would like to spend more time in the UK in future. Any plans for further visits are expected to take shape around his charitable commitments and ongoing discussions about security arrangements when travelling to Britain.
