Thomas Markle, the estranged father of Duchess Meghan Markle, has decided to leave the U.S. and possibly move to Southeast Asia. He fears he may never meet his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. Thomas, 80, who has been living in Mexico for the past ten years, announced his decision after suffering two heart attacks and a stroke. He says he’s looking for a fresh start, seeking “peace” and “kinder people.” Meghan Markle also made a blunder in a recent Instagram video.
In a recent interview, Thomas shared that he felt “stuck in a rut” and is ready to move on. He hasn’t renewed the lease on his house in Mexico and plans to travel with his son, Tom Jr. He explained that he doesn’t know exactly where he’ll end up but hopes to find a peaceful place to live among kind people.
Although he’s not “fleeing” from Meghan and Prince Harry, he said he’s looking for a quieter life and is considering Southeast Asia. He recalled traveling in the region when he was younger and described the people as kind, respectful, and welcoming.
Thomas admitted that he has accepted he will probably never meet his grandchildren. He added, “Every day I see something about Meghan. This week it has been the new TV show.” Despite their estrangement, he expressed no ill will towards his daughter and dreams of reuniting with his family one day.
Thomas also stated that returning to the U.S. isn’t likely, saying he’s disappointed by the politics there. He wants to enjoy a more peaceful and friendly existence, where the people are lovely, medical care is good, and the food is healthy. At 80, he emphasized that he just wants peace for whatever time he has left.
