Meghan Markle ‘won’t play nice’ with Queen Camilla claim
Meghan Markle could return to the UK this summer alongside Prince Harry for an event linked to the Invictus Games 2027 countdown in Birmingham, according to a new report. The Duchess of Sussex has not visited Britain since 2022, and the potential trip has prompted fresh scrutiny over how any reunion with senior royals might unfold.
A source quoted by Express claimed Meghan would aim to avoid conflict with Harry’s relatives but would not “play nice” with Queen Camilla, alleging the two women have not seen eye-to-eye since the Duke and Duchess stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
The report attributes the comments to Closer magazine, quoting a source who said Meghan had previously “made a real effort” with Camilla while living in the UK, but is “way past playing nice and kissing up to her”. The source added that Meghan was “not planning to start a scene” but would not pretend “everything is fine”, and alleged she believes Camilla has been critical of her within royal circles.
Any possible visit would also revive broader questions about the couple’s UK security arrangements, an issue previously explored in our coverage of claims that Meghan could return under a strict security condition.
Neither the Duchess of Sussex nor Buckingham Palace has commented on the latest claim. The Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 countdown event has not been confirmed in the report with an official schedule, and any UK appearance would be expected to attract significant public and media attention.
