Meghan Markle’s longtime friend, Lindsay Jill Roth, paid a heartfelt tribute to the Duchess of Sussex in her new book, Romances & Practicalities: A Love Story (Maybe Yours!) in 250 Questions, published on January 28. Roth, who has been close friends with Meghan since they met in college at Northwestern University, dedicated a special message to her friend in the book’s acknowledgements. Meghan Markle visited victims of the Los Angeles fire recently.
Roth said that Meghan hadn’t read the dedication before the book’s release and had saved it as a surprise. In the dedication, Roth expressed how meaningful their friendship has been, writing: “Meghan Sussex, Meg, to be sisters by choice, still thinking the same thing at the same time after all these years — no matter how many miles between us — is my favorite part of our unbreakable bond.”
Meghan was also the maid of honor at Roth’s wedding to Gavin Jordan in 2016, and their shared connection to the UK influenced Roth to write her book. Romances & Practicalities offers readers 250 questions to help them explore what they really want in a partner, blending Roth’s own romantic journey with expert advice.
Roth also reflected on the coincidence that both she and Meghan married British partners. Roth explained that she focuses on the bigger picture, saying, “It’s special that we both married such wonderful people.” Roth now lives between New York and London with her husband and their two young sons. Meanwhile, Meghan and Prince Harry are raising their children, Archie and Lilibet, in California.
