Meghan Markle Jokes About ‘Wrinkles’ in Melbourne
Meghan Markle shared a light-hearted moment during the Sussexes’ first day in Melbourne, laughing off a compliment from an attendee who told her she had “no wrinkles”. The exchange took place as the Duchess of Sussex visited a women’s homeless shelter run by McAuley Community Services for Women during Prince Harry and Meghan’s four-day programme of private, business and philanthropic engagements in Australia.
During the visit, Hello Magazine reported that Meghan, wearing a pinstriped apron as she helped serve frittata, was told by an attendee: “You’ve had children, you have no wrinkles, you have glowing skin,” prompting Meghan to laugh, shake her head and respond: “Yes, I do!” before adding: “You are so nice.”
HELLO! said the Duchess greeted people waiting in line and later told those eating the meal that the couple had landed in the city that morning and her jet lag had not yet hit. The outlet reported that the shelter visit included meeting survivors of family violence and hearing about the organisation’s support for women and children in crisis.
The Melbourne itinerary forms part of the couple’s wider Australia schedule, with their planned four-day Australia trip also expected to include stops in Canberra and Sydney with a focus on mental health and youth empowerment.
Following the shelter engagement, Meghan and Prince Harry were reported to have visited the Australian National Veterans Art Museum, where they toured the site and viewed an exhibition guided by the museum’s founder. The couple’s appearances in Australia are set to continue over the coming days, with further events expected across multiple cities.
