Body Language Expert Flags Sussexes’ Australia Nerves
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry showed signs of early nerves during their recent four-day visit to Australia, according to a body language expert, with the couple said to have looked more relaxed as the schedule progressed.
The Sussexes returned to Australia for engagements across Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney, with The Mirror reporting that expert Inbaal Honigman described Meghan as a “ball of nerves” at the start of the trip and said Prince Harry displayed subtle stress signals.
Honigman said Meghan’s smile appeared “so tense that the veins in her neck are popping” and suggested she “wants to do everything right but is not confident that she can”. She added that Meghan appeared to be gripping Harry’s arm “like she is hanging on to a life buoy”, while describing Harry’s waving hand as a way of “block[ing] the spectators and keep[ing] himself safe.”
As the tour continued, the expert claimed the mood shifted, noting Harry appeared “relaxed and casual” and Meghan’s face looked “peaceful” with “no nerves apparent”. The trip also followed fresh debate about the couple’s reception in Australia, including claims they faced an Australia snub after a low-key visit.
The comments highlight how closely public appearances by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to be scrutinised, with body-language interpretations often adding to wider discussion around their official engagements.
