Former One Direction singer Liam Payne tragically passed away in Argentina last week, with reports revealing a toxic mix of drugs in his system at the time of his death. The 31-year-old died instantly after falling from his hotel balcony, suffering severe internal and external injuries. According to toxicology reports, Payne had consumed crack cocaine, benzodiazepine, and “pink cocaine” (a drug cocktail known as Tusi, which contains methamphetamine, ketamine, and ecstasy). Additionally, a makeshift aluminium pipe used for drug consumption was found at the scene. Unfortunately, Payne’s sister couldn’t save him either.
Witnesses reported Payne acting erratically before his death, including smashing his laptop and offering a woman $20,000. Hotel staff, concerned about his behavior, called the police shortly before the fatal incident. Images from his hotel room showed signs of drug use, such as traces of white powder and burnt aluminium foil.
Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, had been with him in Argentina but returned to Florida two days before the tragedy. Following the news of his death, Payne’s former One Direction bandmates—Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson—issued a joint statement expressing their devastation. Fans held a vigil for the late singer, gathering to honor his memory in Washington Square Park.
