Ruth Gibbins, Liam Payne’s sister, has shared her feelings for the first time since his death. Liam passed away at 31 on October 16, and Ruth remembered him in a heartfelt Instagram post on October 19th.
She talked about their close bond, saying Liam was her best friend who always made her laugh with his funny impressions. She remembered how he moved out at 17 to follow his dreams and how she supported him on The X Factor before he joined One Direction. Ruth said Liam loved his bandmates like brothers and that they often talked about his problems.
Ruth is struggling to understand his death and wishes she could visit him one more time to hear him play music. She praised his kindness and said she is proud to be his sister and best friend.
Ruth noted the challenges Liam faced in recent years and felt the world wasn’t kind to him. She said he just wanted to be loved and to make people happy with his music. She hopes he can now see the love he didn’t fully realize when he was alive.
In her tribute, Ruth thanked Liam for their memories and promised to take care of his 7-year-old son, Bear, so he knows how great his dad was. She feels very sad and wishes she could have saved him.
Liam’s family also shared their heartbreak after his passing, which happened when he fell from a hotel balcony in Argentina.
