From early years of rock sparsity, they have pulling apart the remnants of Joy Division’s post-punk gloom and David Bowie’s Low era and bloomed into late-80s indie-pop heavyweights – defined by Smith’s melancholy.
This era saw a number of UK top 10 singles, including Lullaby and Friday I’m In Love – one of the band’s best-known tracks from their chart-topping 1992 album, Wish.
Guitarist and principal songwriter Smith remains the band’s only constant member, closely followed by long-time bassist Simon Gallup.
Reeves Gabrels and Perry Bamote are currently tour on guitar, with Jason Cooper on drums and Roger O’Donnell on keyboard.
Meanwhile, Oasis has announced their return in August, just before the 30th anniversary of their debut album, ‘Definitely Maybe’. Initially, they planned 17 shows across five cities in the U.K. and Ireland, but high demand led to additional dates.
The reunion tour kicks off in Cardiff, Wales, on July 4th, 2025, and wraps up on November 8th, with shows in the U.S. and Australia as well. The official lineup hasn’t been confirmed, but reports suggest that bassist Andy Bell and guitarists Paul Arthurs and Gem Archer will join Liam and Noel Gallagher on stage.
