Noel Gallagher opened up during a conversation with the legendary rock photographer Jill Furmanovsky ahead of her new exhibition. The conversation surrounded the fact that Oasis couldn’t make it big in the United States like it did in the United Kingdom. Noel spoke about it and said that US “couldn’t handle” that “we didn’t give a fuck about anything”.
- Notably, Noel said “America, they couldn’t handle the fact that we didn’t give a fuck about anything”. “I mean, I think that’s the reason we’ve never really had a number one album in America – they wouldn’t go the extra mile for us because we wouldn’t go the extra mile for them.” NME reports that Noel stated “That’s why we’ve never been nominated for a GRAMMY – you’ve got to do all that stuff over there, you’ve got to kind of fake it a little bit and we just we couldn’t do it which is why we’d always stall at number two.”
Oasis had a decent run in the United Kingdom and it still one of the revered musical groups in the country. The same can’t be said about the success for the band in the United States. Noel’s about to go on a tour soon, but his brother has turned down the offer to be a part of this upcoming tour. No one knows if things will change in the coming future, but one will have to go with the information available as of this writing.
