Kylie Minogue recently recalled The Cure‘s “flawless” performance at Glastonbury 2019 and stated that she “can’t wait” for new music from the band.

Minogue recently joined presenters Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw on their BBC podcast Sidetracked, where they spoke about Ibiza, Chappell Roan, and the singer’s “The Cure phase” at the start of this year.
The Australian singer also recalled: “In 2019 after my Glastonbury set, which sounds like I’m just dropping it, they headlined that night and I couldn’t believe how crystal clear his voice was. I mean it was, they were, the entire band was flawless.”
The trio then discussed the band’s first new album in 16 years, ‘Songs Of A Lost World’, which is expected in November, with Minogue saying that she “can’t wait” for music from The Cure.
‘Songs Of A Lost World’ will be the band’s first album since 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’, and has already been previewed by the lead single ‘Alone’. On October 7th, the band announced details of a second single, ‘A Fragile Thing’, which is expected later this week.
On October 6th, Robert Smith’s band dropped a teaser of that track via the group’s fan WhatsApp channel and mailing list. The emotional tone of ‘A Fragile Thing’ may be influenced by the passing of Smith’s mother, father and brother, which he revealed in 2019 was the source for some of the new record’s “darkness”.
Since its official announcement, Smith has shared his thoughts on why the record has taken so long to be released, even though it has been in the works for many years. He said: “I don’t think there was really a kind of an official beginning to this album because it’s been kind of drifting in and out of my life for like an awful long time. I mean if I have one regret is that I said anything at all about it in 2019 because I really shouldn’t have done that.”
Meanwhile, Kylie Minogue is planning to release her new album ‘Tension II’. The new project, set to be out on October 18th and it follows last year’s ‘Tension’ and includes collaborations with The Blessed Madonna, Tove Lo, and others.
The singer will also be taking the album and its predecessor on tour next year. The Tension Tour includes dates in Australia, the UK, US, Canada, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines.
