In his Christmas Day speech, King Charles III did not mention his son, Prince Harry, his wife, Meghan Markle, or his brother, Prince Andrew. The King, who is 76, recorded the speech at the Fitzrovia Chapel in London. He focused on praising the strength of UK communities after recent riots and thanked medical staff who supported him and Princess Catherine during his cancer treatment. He talked about other family members but did not mention Harry, Meghan, or Andrew, which stood out. Harry and Markle also alleged a police cover-up recently as well.
Royal expert Dr. Tessa Dunlop said this showed that King Charles wants to focus on the strength of his immediate family and not on those who have distanced themselves from the monarchy. Dr. Dunlop explained that the King is aiming for unity and strength within the Royal Family as the world faces challenges in the year ahead.
The King also honored the bravery of Commonwealth veterans, especially those who took part in the D-Day Landings 80 years ago. He thanked them for their courage and sacrifice, which continue to inspire others.
King Charles personally thanked doctors and nurses who helped him and his family during times of illness. This Christmas message, filmed at the Fitzrovia Chapel, was the first time a British monarch recorded their message outside a royal residence since 2006.
The King also praised how UK communities came together after the anti-immigrant riots in August. He spoke about the importance of repairing relationships and trust. He also mentioned the struggles caused by conflicts in other parts of the world, such as the Middle East, Central Europe, and Africa.
On Christmas Day, King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children for the traditional Christmas service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. The royal family’s walk to the church was a special part of the day’s celebrations.
