King Charles Opens Sandringham Half-Term Activities
King Charles has opened the Sandringham estate to the public for the May bank holiday and half-term break, with a programme aimed at young families visiting the Norfolk royal residence. The plans include outdoor activities and exhibitions designed to run across the school holiday period.
The estate’s organisers said the itinerary includes mini golf, a forest school and a new exhibition marking the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth, while family archery sessions are scheduled for 24 and 31 May, Hello Magazine reported.
The archery element was highlighted as a subtle link to Princess Charlotte, after the young royal was photographed trying the sport during the Big Help Out volunteering day in 2023, when she joined the Prince and Princess of Wales at a Scout hut in Slough. The article noted that Princes George and Louis, as well as Prince William and Catherine, also took part in archery during that visit.
The Sandringham programme lands as the royal family continues a busy public diary, with the King recently making a high-profile appearance when he met David Beckham at the Chelsea Flower Show in one of the week’s standout engagements.
While Sandringham House is open for visitors, Anmer Hall — the Wales family’s nearby country home — remains private. The half-term schedule is expected to draw families to Sandringham’s grounds, keeping the estate active through the holiday weekend.
