Christopher Andersen Claims Kate ‘Was Done’ With Harry
The Princess of Wales was said to have reached a breaking point in the long-running rift between Prince William and Prince Harry after the Duke of Sussex discussed King Charles’s cancer and mortality in public remarks, according to a new claim by royal author Mr Christopher Andersen.
In an interview about his book “Kate!”, Fox News reported that Mr Andersen alleged Prince Harry’s comments — framed as a desire to “mend fences” because of uncertainty about how long the King has to live — were the “final straw” for Princess Catherine, who he said had previously kept trying to repair relations between the brothers.
Mr Andersen told the outlet that the remark was hurtful because it forced public focus on the King’s health at a time when he was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, and he claimed the fallout reignited speculation about the seriousness of the diagnosis.
Prince Harry’s relationship with senior royals has remained strained since he and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, stepped back from royal duties in 2020, and the author’s comments follow other recent reporting on tensions, including claims that Prince Harry’s UK trips may be planned to avoid William and Kate.
Fox News said Buckingham Palace previously declined to comment on books about the family, and Kensington Palace was contacted for comment regarding Mr Andersen’s claims. The latest remarks are likely to add to scrutiny around whether any reconciliation between the brothers is realistic in the near term.
