Kate Middleton ‘Done’ With Prince Harry, Book Claims
Princess Kate was said to have reached a breaking point with Prince Harry after his public remarks about King Charles III’s health, according to a new extract from a forthcoming book about the Princess of Wales.
In an excerpt from royal author Christopher Andersen’s book, Yahoo Entertainment reported that Kate was “done” with the Duke of Sussex after he spoke to the BBC about his father’s cancer battle and suggested he did not know how much longer the King has.
Andersen, a journalist, wrote that after the interview, Kate—who he said had worked hard to bridge the rift between the brothers—“willingly handed her husband a hammer” to “nail the door shut once and for all,” with the author arguing the comments risked fuelling doubt about the monarch’s prospects of recovery.
The passage also claims Prince William had already closed off reconciliation following the publication of Harry’s 2023 memoir, and it frames Kate as protective of the King’s privacy given her own experience with cancer. In the extract, Andersen describes her as “more disappointed than angry” but reaching her personal limit.
The report lands amid continued public scrutiny of the Waleses’ approach to balancing duty and family life, including Kate’s reported focus on wellbeing after treatment as she returns to a steadier schedule of royal engagements.
Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer following treatment for an enlarged prostate, and the Palace has not commented on the book’s claims about private family reactions. The extract is likely to add fresh pressure to long-running questions over whether a formal rapprochement between Prince William and Prince Harry is still possible.
