Actor Daniel Craig will certainly remain iconic for his role as James Bond. The actor played the role of Agent 007 in five films and said goodbye to the character in 2021’s No Time To Die. There has been no official update from the studio or the franchise’s producers as to who will bag the role. Fans all around the world are speculating who could potentially be the next British secret agent, popularly known as 007.
Including actor Daniel Craig, seven actors have essayed the role of Agent 007 on film. The series based on the Ian Fleming novels began in 1962 with the film Dr. No. It starred Sean Connery as James Bond, who essayed the role in six more films, five of which were produced by Eon Productions. Dr. No established much of the visual style of the film series, including the iconic theme song and Bond’s appearance from the view of a gun barrel.
Speaking with The Telegraph, Sam Neill, who was in the running for the role in the mid-1980s for The Living Daylights talked about his unexpected top choices in an interview Neill names Scottish actor Jack Lowden and Australia’s Rob Collins, neither of whom are seemingly on the radar for the role. “It was one rather excruciating moment in a long career but people keep asking me about the Bond thing. And I can only say I’m very glad I’m not an ex-Bond but I do have a couple of recommendations.”
“[Rob Collins is] an indigenous actor, extremely handsome, and really good. He’d shake things up a bit.”
Richard Madden dropped some hints regarding James Bond. Since Daniel Craig’s departure, there has been much speculation of who will next take on the mantle of Britain’s most famous spy. Daniel Craig retired as 007 last year. It has been noted that the fans have been busy dream casting the role with actors of all types.
Many suggested that Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and Tom Hiddleston be among the several actors to play the role. It has been further noted that the favorites to bag the role include LGBTQ actors like Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey, singer Sam Smith, and Thor’s Tessa Thompson. However, popular actor Idris Elba is not willing to grab the role of James Bond. British actress Charlotte Kirk recently stated she is auditioning for a ‘deadly, brilliant, and complicated’ role in the new James Bond movie.
