Harry Styles Reveals Radiohead Song at First Time
Harry Styles has shared an unusually candid detail about his teenage years while paying tribute to Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards, drawing loud laughter from the room and underlining the band’s long-running influence on his music fandom.
During his on-stage speech, FOX 23 Maine reported, Styles told the audience that Radiohead’s “Talk Show Host” was playing when he lost his virginity, before joking that the encounter lasted only as long as the track’s intro.
Styles was at the ceremony to introduce Yorke, who received an Academy Fellowship honour, and he framed the moment as a fan paying respect to an artist he discovered gradually while growing up. He described hearing Radiohead through his sister’s bedroom and finding their music again “at parties and treasured moments alone” as he became more familiar with their catalogue.
In the same speech, Styles credited Yorke’s songwriting with shaping his own approach, saying he could not overstate how much the musician’s work influenced his belief in the purpose of the arts. He also offered a playful example by suggesting that without Radiohead’s “Exit Music” there would be no “Watermelon Sugar,” while adding that Radiohead remains his favourite band.
The appearance comes amid continued public fascination with Styles’ personal life, including reports that he and Zoë Kravitz have been linked to wedding planning, even as the singer keeps most details private.
For Yorke, the moment served as a high-profile reminder of Radiohead’s reach across generations of British pop, while Styles’ remarks reinforced how deeply the band’s music has resonated beyond the alternative rock world.
