A member named Key East on the Steve Hoffman forums is claiming that Guns N’ Roses will release a new EP in two weeks. He made the post before the release of “Hard Skool” became public today. If this is true, it would feature GNR’s Chris Cornell tribute they do live, a cover of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.”
Brand new EP for Guns N’ Roses called “GnFnR” will be published on every streaming platform in two Fridays.
1 – “Hard Skool”
2 – “Wichita Lineman”
3 – “Black Hole Sun”
4 – “The Seeker”
5 – “Bennie & The Jets”
6 – “Absurd”
Two brand new original songs, three studio versions of covers and a brand new unheared cover.
Slash and Duff McKagan did record at Axl Rose’s studio a couple years ago, as Pacific Ocean Blue pointed out, “The question remains, if this EP is real, are the covers simply live recordings from the tour and/or rehearsals, or did the band actually record them in the studio?
I suspect they will be hybrids of live recordings and/or rehearsals, with vocal overdubs. Absurd and Hard Skool are Chinese Democracy recordings with new overdubs — this is not a band that is spending time collaborating in the studio.
Slash and Duff did their overdubs individually and they were sent back to Axl to review in his Latigo Canyon mansion. What this confirms is that this reunion is mostly a touring enterprise and that it is unlikely this line-up will ever spend the necessary time to work together as collaborators in the studio.”
