Dave Mustaine has shot down rumors that former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted is joining Megadeth.
He said on Cameo, “To answer your question about Jason Newsted joining the band – I don’t think that is gonna happen.
“And, “Any chance of Ellefson coming back later on?’… The answer to that is no.
“‘Any hints about the new album?’. Yeah, you can find out about what I’m doing through my socials, through Cameo here, through Gimme Metal, my radio show, and also at Megadeth-dot-com. And that’s it.”

I see this on this sub all the time, how early Megadeth, specifically KIMB and Peace Sells, have a “jazz” influence or a “jazz type sound.” I don’t get it. How? They seem like pure Thrash/Metal to me.
I do understand that Gar and Poland came from jazz backgrounds, and had jazz influences – I totally get that. But can someone point out specifically what music on the first two albums sound like jazz? The only thing I can possibly think of is These Boots and that’s it. What am I missing?
Genuinely curious, btw. Not challenging or disputing anyone who has said that the first 2 albums are rooted in jazz. Just want to know what I should listen for, after having listened to both albums hundreds of times. Lol.”
